Barton Creek Cave

The trip we took to Belize the 1st of Aug., we did something different and did a little sightseeing. We visited Barton Creek Cave. It was a two hour canoe trip to the (near) end of the cave and back. The girls and Matthew went with the guide in one canoe and the rest of the gang went in another. The cave was very dark but the guide provided spotlights that we could shine in front of the canoes and up on the cave walls. Char thought she would be Claustrophobic but because of the immenseness of the cave and the fact that it was so open and airy, she was fine. The kids got out of the canoes and swam to the rocks at the mouth of the cave and pretended they were pirates.
The guide took these pictures for us:

This is the view from the outside of the cave.

This is Amanda (and Matthew if you look hard)

  2. We were down from the States last month and spent a couple of days at Barton Creek (not at the Cave, but with one of the Old Order Mennonite families just before the Outpost).

Pray for us. We plan to return to Belize in January to do missionary work.
